Lauren grew up in the Lake District. She moved to Manchester to complete both a BSc and MRes in medicinal chemistry at Manchester Metropolitan University, under the supervision of Dr Thomas Britten and Dr Andrew Lewis. Her third year project involved involved cancer stem cell therapeutics, where she won the BSc prize at the SCI young chemists panel competition. Her masters research involved the synthesis of novel targeted protein degraders to improve their pharmacokinetic profile. In October 2024, she joined the Burley group to pursue her PhD studies in the 'Synthesis of next-generation oligonucleotide therapeutics'.

Personal Facts

Lauren loves the outdoors, naturally due to living in the Lakes for most of her life. Her current hobbies are fell running, hiking, wild swimming and paddleboarding. Lauren also loves experimenting in the kitchen and often dabbles in creating new recipes, inspired by both Japanese and Thai cuisine. She also has a passion for baking.
